The Northamptonshire Archaeological Society was formed in 1974 to promote the study and appreciation of the Archaeology and History of the county. The society publishes the annual journal Northamptonshire Archaeology, which contains detailed excavation reports as well as notes and summaries describing current fieldwork. Newsletters provide details of local events and society meetings. The Society organises visits to historic buildings and archaeological excavations which are often not open to the general public. The AGM, which takes place in November, has a guest speaker, and a spring archaeology day for the public is a new venture. Membership is open to individuals, families, groups and institutions.
