Northamptonshire Festivals

Gala celebrations and memorable events have always been a part of the rich heritage of England, making the Northamptonshire festivals some of the most eagerly awaited events in this shire county of England.

Celebrations of Northamptonshire Festivals

From January to August, going up to the very end of the year, Northamptonshire plays host to some of the most wonderful and fun-filled festivals, making it one of the most frequently visited destinations for tourists and residents alike.

For those with an inclination towards history, the annual Festival of History is the place to head for. Held at the Kelmarch Hall in Northamptonshire usually around July, this festival takes you on a trip down the memory lane as it traces the history of England over the past 2000 years.

Meanwhile, for a slight change in the mood, visit the interesting Northampton Balloon Festival at the Northampton Racecourse, usually held around August every year. A similar upbeat mood can also be found at the Moulton Village Festival, having week of festivities that ultimately lead up to the carnival weekend, vibrant with folk music and morris dancing.

The World Conker Championships, usually held around October at the village pub in Ashton is another international event, attracting tourists in large numbers. It is surely a fun-filled family's day out as well, with scores of stalls, sideshows and lots more. Meanwhile, the Althorp Literary festival in June draws thousands of visitors with an intellectual bent of mind.

Early in August, the East Carlton Park also plays host to the Transport Gala, a one of its kind festival. Another international event that draws major international attention is the Northamptonshire International Jazz Festival, at the Castle Way, showcasing the talents of some of the finest artists in Jazz.

Another interesting event to look forward to in the Northamptonshire festivals is the Kites Day at Rockingham Castle, usually held in September. Corby, one of the other main regions of Northamptonshire is also famous for its event, the Corby Carnival Day, held in June. The Wilby Festival and Country Fayre, also held in June is also one of the famous festivals of Northamptonshire.

Though there are some festivals which are just held once in a few years, or on other hand, more than once in a single year, yet most of these festivals are held as annual events. If you too want to experience the true flavour of this beautiful county, you can actually plan your holiday around one of the many Northamptonshire festivals.
